​is an Architectural Consultation company specializing in Division 8.  

Established in 2018.

Optimus Consulting is a full-service specification consulting firm specializing in Division 8 – Openings. Founded in 2018, the firm provides independent, detail-driven specification and consulting services for commercial and institutional projects across a wide range of market sectors.
With over 30 years of combined industry experience, Optimus Consulting supports projects in K–12 and higher education, healthcare and behavioral health, commercial, residential, manufacturing, multi-family housing, detention facilities, and New York State OGS and DASNY projects. As an independent consultant with no manufacturer affiliations, the firm delivers objective guidance focused solely on the best interests of clients and project teams.
Optimus Consulting utilizes innovative software solutions integrated with Building Information Modeling (BIM) platforms, including Revit®, providing accurate product data, specifications, cost analysis, and 3D modeling for doors, frames, and hardware. Services are flexible and custom-tailored to meet the unique needs of each client and project.
Core services include specification writing, code compliance reviews, third-party reviews, existing conditions surveys, budget analysis, security design reviews, project coordination meetings, submittal review, punch list inspections, fire door commissioning, and annual fire door inspections. The firm also prepares door schedules and supports pre-installation meetings to ensure successful execution from design through closeout.

Shannon Guarrera is an operations and consulting professional with over seven years of entrepreneurial experience and more than a decade in financial services, compliance, and project coordination. She specializes in managing complex workflows, financial operations, documentation, and compliance for organizations that require structure, accuracy, and accountability.
As the owner of Optimus Consulting, Shannon manages all operational aspects of client projects and serves as the primary point of contact from onboarding through closeout. Her work centers on streamlining processes, strengthening reporting and billing systems, and ensuring projects remain compliant, organized, and on schedule.
Outside of her professional work, Shannon is a mother of four, a proud nana of one, and has been married to her husband, Joe, since 2002. That experience shapes how she approaches her work—with responsibility, consistency, and a strong commitment to follow-through. Her focus is on reducing operational friction, supporting informed decision-making, and helping businesses operate more efficiently.

Joseph Guarrera, Jr

Joseph Guarrera Jr. is a seasoned architectural specifications and consulting professional with over 25 years of experience in the door, frame, and hardware industry. His expertise includes specification writing, product consulting, and project support across a wide range of commercial and institutional project types.
As co-owner of Optimus Consulting, Joseph has written hundreds of door, frame, and hardware specifications for projects including K–12 and higher education facilities, healthcare and mental health facilities, offices, and retail environments. His background includes serving as an architectural consultant for manufacturers and security solution providers, as well as extensive experience on the distribution side supplying doors, frames, and hardware for hundreds of projects nationwide.
Joseph brings a deep understanding of code compliance, constructability, and real-world application. Known for his technical knowledge and practical approach, he supports project teams in making informed decisions that prioritize safety, performance, and long-term durability.
Outside of his professional work, Joseph is a father of four, a proud papa of one, and has been married to his wife, Shannon, since 2002. When not working, he and Shannon enjoy riding motorcycles and spending time with friends and family.
